But now we start with a little legend about the christmas nutcracker.
A lot of years ago a farmer who was very rich and lonely, lived in the Ore Mountains. The wealth had made his heart hard, like the nuts which he ate completely alone before Christmas. But he was too comfortable, to crack only one nut independently, he promised to that one reward which finds out how to crack nuts without strive.
Many came and brought the most peculiar suggestions: a soldier, for example, advised to shoot at the nuts. The village carpenter offered his saw in order to saw the nuts. The cattle doctor even recommended to set the best clucking of the village on the nuts - then the cores would hatch out already by itself.
But the old doll blunder of the village was during three days industriously carving, then a neat little man stood before him on the table. It was painted in different colours with the Sunday national costume of the Ore Mountains miners, with a big mouth, hard jaw(pine wood) and a strong tongue(sole) - crack as created to the nut.
The rich farmer was so inspired that he wanted to crack his nuts only from the multicoloured little man. He grew fond of the wooden little fellow so that his heart was soft on the spot like the wax of a Christmas candle. He gave away all his nuts, and everywhere in the village beautiful Christmas was celebrated.
The old Ore Mountains doll blunder got a new workshop from which henceforth the most beautiful and strongest nutcrackers went to all world. The rich farmer became the best friend of all children, because the wooden nutcracker had also cracked the hard bowl of his heart.
